Almost all washing machines have a dryer function... but only a few people use this feature.

Who doesn't know this: pure panic! You have to leave the house for less than an hour, and the only wearable pants or your favorite T-shirt are still damp. It's especially bad in winter. The laundry dries slowly, the air in the house becomes damp, and the radiator is unceremoniously converted into a tumble dryer – with questionable effectiveness. But without buying a dryer or waiting for hours, there is a very simple trick that anyone can use and that almost no one knows.

Why does it take so long to dry laundry indoors?

When drying laundry indoors, especially in the colder months, several factors come together. The air is already humid, air circulation is restricted, and thick clothing retains moisture deep in its fibers. The result: drying takes longer, unpleasant odors can develop, and humidity rises unnecessarily. Putting the laundry on the radiator seems logical, but it is neither economical nor good for air quality. Luckily, your washing machine can do a lot more than you think.

The spin cycle that everyone underestimates
Contrary to popular belief, a conventional washing machine can remove an astonishing amount of moisture from your laundry. The secret lies not in a special function, but in the clever use of the spin cycle. Properly adjusted, it removes significantly more water than a standard wash cycle, including the water trapped in the fibers.

And to improve that result even further, all you need... a simple towel.

The dry towel trick that makes all the difference

After washing, return the laundry to the drum and allow it to start an additional spin cycle. Add a large, clean and completely dry towel. Avoid crumpling it up: Place it so that it rests well on the laundry. During the spin cycle at maximum speed, the towel acts like a sponge. It soaks up excess moisture as the drum rotates. At the end of the spin cycle, the difference is clearly visible: the towel is heavy and damp, while the laundry comes out of the drum almost dry.

This quick-drying trick is especially effective if you're only washing one or two pieces, especially those you need right away.
